Mentoring started for me when I was 18 years young, but I had no clue that I got a great mentor who is teaching me great lessons, technically and for life. That was during my apprenticeship back in Switzerland where I got a senior engineer guiding me towards becoming a master craftsman for electrical installations. He worked on international assignments in mega projects as a project engineer and I received first hand his personal experience and of course, I learned fast track international standard around electrical engineering and a great portion of life experience. However, only now I understand the value I got that time.
My next great mentoring programme I got on the job during my time at Siemens Switzerland. We work on an international project whereby we had our challenges to meet the contractual requirements due to the fact that we sold a Swiss product to Malaysia not considering the aspects of technical differences between Switzerland and Malaysia. The new contract requirements which have never been done before and on top the cultural differences complicating the project implementation. That’s when my international project management mentoring journey started. Siemens sent 3 senior project directors from Germany who got the necessary experience to mentor us as a team in that project. It was the best one month of full time learning, in workshops, one on one sessions, assessments, presentations until we got it right. That was the beginning of my international project journey.
When I started my own company back in 2007, I went for all the necessary certifications to translate my experience and knowledge into professional certificates, like NLP, Master Coach, PMP, Scrum Master, Systems Assurance, Systems Engineering, Train the Trainer, HypnoTherapy, Spiritual Healing Methods, etc. I also conducted hundreds of hours project management and leadership training in middle east and South East Asia including Simultrain®, a serious game for project management simulation.
A couple of years later, I completed numerous mega projects as a project management consultant and running my own company, I am still having my mentors and coaching sessions to learn and grow. That allows me to help my own team through mentoring and coaching to move to the next level and now I am ready with Project-Mentors™ to help you on your journey.
Let’s meet for a free chemistry check and quick mentoring session. Cheers, Peter
